Order and tank

Order from Car Builder Solutions turned up today, placed on Friday afternoon! One heater and plume, a rivnut gun, universal band and a set of dash warning lights (I really didn’t like the ones that came with the kit so I order these instead)

Seeing as I have a few days off, I’ve taken the tank to a metal workshop in Chandlers Ford to add a mini surge tank to the bottom. The tank is not baffled and it £250 to buy the surge tank and twin pump set-up from Marlin. I’ve decided to modify the main tank and see how it goes first. If I get problems I can always add a surge tank in the front and a second pump at a later date.

Parts

Yeah more stuff!

Big box from Marlin arrive with steering rack, carpet and trim. Trim got a few dents in transit but hopefully that will fix itself! Going to be a busy week end getting the steering in.

Brakes

Received the splash plates from Motormec today so I went about installing them. Needed holes cutting in them – this was due me not wanting to take the hubs off. Enough has been take off for the plate to go past the back of the hub leaving all the handbrake assembly parts and the brake hose bracket in place.

Parts!

Woohoo delivery from Marlin including the steering rack, track rod ends, electric fan, brake servo and master cylinder.
Electric was needed because the viscose fan wouldn’t fit in with the radiator in place. The donor radiator was a bit too big as well so we are waiting for a new one those too.
Track rod ends are not part of the kit-in-a-box so those need to be ordered seprately.

Parts

New bits!

The Magnecor HT leads turned up today. Very nice looking set of leads. They didn’t cost much more than the OE set. The old leads had started to crack and needed replacing. The engines also getting new plugs, distro cap and rotor arm.

When your taking your donor to bits, be careful not to damage the clutch hose that goes between the slave and master cylinder its quite expensive to replace (£33+VAT).

Also ordered new bushes for the rear swing arms, new links for the rear anti roll bar and a gasket for the throttle butterfly.

Need more carb cleaner for the intake manifold as well!

Still need to decided if I am going to replace the water pump or not.

Should be getting more stuff from Frost soon as well.
